hey so i did a minor fucky-wucky where in september i was going to make a blogpost titled like "what i did on my summer vacation" as a bit on how i hadn't posted anything since june where i would go "sike" and then pivot into, whatever else i was gonna do a post about, but now it's february the next year so that did not in fact happen
but tonight i set up something that allows me to blog post more conveniently so, uh, im fucken doing it.

anyway. what i did do on my summer vacation? fuck if i recall. what i do know is what i did with my christmas vacation, which is i fell off my wanikani reviews but i caught up in a month and i was already at level 60 anyway. i'm taking a bit of an anti-pedagogical approach to wk, don't worry about it, but like. yay, neat, i'm like half a year from finishing Everythign in wanikani, except the stuff they keep adding to it.
uuuh. i have played guitar, fairly regularly in fact. i got a new guitar - a les paul clone, though not the kit i mentioned in march, instead it's a sire one that seemingly was discontinued right after i bought it. so uh. i guess i'm glad that i got it. also got a bizarrely cheap multieffect/tuner/amp simulator/whatever the fuck pedal with it, though i don't use it that much.
and i've listened to music - in particular ive realised this group called Their / They're / There have a bunch of tracks that kinda fucken rule? I'd bought Analog Weekend on someone's suggestion probably literal years before and then I just noticed that actually New Blood is an amazing song. Since then I've warmed up to a bunch of their other stuff too. Also the bôa album Whiplash had its deluxe version come out and Walk With Me is great, Walk With Me (Londinium Version) is if anything better. Got into some other stuff too, still listening to Sea Power... I've got stuff as varied as Indochine, MCR, Breton and Gorillaz cds coming in the mail (and I also got that Natalie Imbruglia album that has her version of Torn, lol)
whaaat the fuck else is up. im no longer hating email, it turns out my new provider works just fine. i would've liked to consider thundermail but basically they didn't get it released by the time i needed it - too bad i guess.

no much progress on any of my projects, though like i said i would in may i did in fact go linux-only and that's a perpetual configuration project on its own. but basically... it turns out that after i quit destiny i really kinda wasn't doing anything windows-specific, and Other Than The Fucking GPU Drivers, almost everything i've got set up works better on linux anyway? to be clear, this is a me issue, do not try this at home
oh yeah i had my steam deck get haunted with a new issue late last year. basically i'd describe it as "it seems like the power button has become sticky, and it could be unstuck with a little application of contact cleaner". but in the long term that stopped working and eventually i shimmed the button with a thin piece of plastic, so i guess it's just getting bent. kinda sucks - this suggests that eventually the power button may be shorn off the board - but it's not that hard to replace, the real annoying thing is having to remove the heat pipe and heat exchanger and, if they need to be detached from the mobo, having to clean and repaste the interface. it is what it is. and the mystery is why contact cleaner helped if it's getting physically bent, yknow?
im trying to start a bit of a "paperful office" situation in here. i don't receive a lot of mail, but i do receive some mail, and i'm putting them in folders in a box. ive also got some index cards in there, we'll see what i get around to with those. one idea is to use it as an initial frontend for that cataloguing system that i keep talking about, though as noted i didn't really get anything done with that.
i guess in a sense i'm working on doing more over here, too.
oh, yeah. i might be making another website too. not in a "watch this space" sense but like "if you look at this space somewhere in the next 18 months there might be another website in there" sense. things aren't moving exactly but they could be.
